Dr. Ujjal Marjit is the Head of the Centre for Information Resource Management (CIRM) at the
University of Kalyani, India. He has been serving in the university system since 2001,
contributing to academic development, ICT infrastructure, and digital transformation
initiatives.
He holds a Bachelor (Honours) degree from Visva-Bharati, MCA from Jadavpur University,
BLISc and MLISc from Madurai Kamaraj University, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science &
Engineering from the University of Kalyani.
Dr. Marjit has served as a Visiting Researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and
Technology (NTNU), Norway, and is a former member of the Association for Computing
Machinery (ACM), USA. He has participated in academic programmes and international events
in Germany, the UK, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands, Czech Republic, Bangladesh and the
UAE.
He has published more than 80 research papers in reputed journals and conferences and has
co-authored several book chapters. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence in
academic research, AI tools for literature review and citation management, AI-powered data
analysis, academic writing, summarization, and AI-driven innovations in teaching and
learning.
He also holds several national responsibilities, including Nodal Officer for NIRF (2016–2025),
National Academic Depository (NAD), NMEICT Project, VIDWAN Expert Database, AISHE,
Banglar Uchchasiksha Portal, SWAYAM, and CMRO Portal Mapping, Samarth Portal. He has
also served as Technical Coordinator for the UGC-Infonet Project.
As a Course Coordinator, he has successfully conducted numerous FDPs, workshops, and
training programmes, particularly focused on academic research and the application of AI in
academic research.
Dr. Marjit has delivered invited lectures in a wide range of academic programmes, including
NEP Orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses, FIPs, FDPs, Workshops, Seminars, and
Orientation Programmes at premier institutions across India. His speaking engagements span
IITs, IIM Kolkata, BHU, MANUU, Mizoram University, NEHU, Nagaland University, Calcutta
University, Jadavpur University, North Bengal University, Sambalpur University, RIE Mysore, IIIT
Mumbai University, IPE Hyderabad, Amity University, JUIT Noida, AEC Telangana, IHM Kolkata,
as well as numerous MMTTCs, HRDCs, and colleges across West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and
several other states.
