Ultracentrifuges are centrifuges which can spin rotors at very high speeds and are capable of generating speeds of 1000000g. They are useful for research involving the separation and purification of proteins, DNA, RNA, and viruses, as well as carbon nanotubes and nanoparticles. The Hitachi CS120FNX Floor Standing Micro Ultracentrifuge installed at the S. N. Bose Innovation Centre has a speed of 120,000 RPM and can be used by interested researchers.
